There was nothing like watching the sun go down over Lake Tippecanoe. With views from their ground level living space and two of their main level bedrooms, they could watch the colorful display from indoors, if they wanted. But so often they chose to throw open the sliding doors and meet their neighbors on their freshly painted lakeside deck. Everyone would pull up lawn chairs, break out cocktail mixers, and catch up on the days adventures while streaks of pink, orange, and purple crossed the sky. It was quite possibly the best part of the day. So much of the lake life was about water skiing and fishing and boating. Of quiet mornings on the screened-in porch and good food at Pie Eyed Peteys. But it was also about the people around them, the tight-knit Tippecanoe community who knew their dog Rufus by name and who offered up parking spaces whenever extra space was needed for a party. It was their neighbors who kept an eye on the property when they were away. It was their neighbors who let their kids run through their yards, chasing fireflies and soccer balls. And it was their neighbors who joined them every evening for the sunset. This was what lake life was meant to be: incredible memories with good people.
